Thermal mask

There are many home remedy versions of a warm compress including rice in a sock, or a hot rag, but the heat can reach dangerous temperatures for the delicate lid skin, and most of them will not maintain the required temperature long enough.

For a warm compress to be effective, it needs to maintain at least 104 degrees for at least 10 minutes and be moist heat for better penetration. We have found most beaded masks to cool down to an ineffective temperature after 4-5 minutes. Instead, we use a mask that traps in moist heat for 15-20 minutes to maximize efficacy.

It is important to do this daily in order to keep the oil from being stagnant in the glands.
