Dr. Brimer has been serving Wilmington since 2000, and we have been in this location at Landfall Center since 2015. We opened, already focused and dedicated to treating dry eye through the purchase of specialized treatments such as the 5M, Lipiflow and IPL. But as our dry eye research, skill, and demand continued to grow, we saw an unmet need in Wilmington for dedicated dry eye care. In 2019, we removed our optical and became 100% devoted to delivering advanced dry eye care. During this remodel, we designed a Relaxation Room, because time after time we saw patients’ ocular status improve and degrade according to their stress level. We wanted to create a quiet environment where you can come any time, free of charge, and relax with a vibrating warm compress mask.
We are pleased to report that the transition has been a huge success. Our attention is no longer divided, therefore we are always the first to vet and adopt the latest dry eye treatments. This also means that our staff is incredibly knowledgeable about what we do and accountable to you no matter where you are in your dry eye journey. Our formula for treating dry eye is proven, and if you are willing to do the work, we get positive outcomes about 95% of the time.
Dr. Brimer is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Southern College of Optometry, a Fellow of the AAO, and a primary clinical investigator. Dr. Brimer is a also member of the American Optometric Association and the North Carolina State Optometric Society, where she served as district President for three years. She has been serving patients in Wilmington for over 20 years and is dedicated to treating dry eye differently.
Dr. Brimer is devoted to the development of equipment and protocols that help doctors differentiate the underlying causes of ocular surface disease and create successful outcomes. She was the co-creator of the Vision Source Dry Eye Protocol for over 3500 private practices. During this process we spent years trialing different treatments to compare the outcome, value, and experience. Hundreds were rejected, so that we could handpick the treatments used in our office in full confidence. Dr. Brimer is currently working on version 2.0 of the Vision source Dry Eye Protocol.
Dr. Brimer was integral in designing the Oculus 5M software platform and Crystal Tear Report. This version of the 5M is successful globally and we are so thankful to have been able to empower doctors around the world to better help their patients. Dr. Brimer knows this device better than anyone and can use it to let you SEE elements of your ocular surface that are impossible to see on a regular exam with a slit lamp.
After seeing the day to day struggles offices experienced with implementation of dry eye, she went on to create the Dry Eye Institute. Several times per year, she hosts doctors from across the country for a small, hands-on, interactive ocular surface disease retreat to help them establish a firm foundation and deliver ongoing resources for successful implementation and outcomes.
Currently, Dr. Brimer is the lead dry eye consultant for Percept as they pursue out of the box approaches to dry eye care. She also has her own AI project under development
